Kim Wasylowich, the owner of Riemann Painting, believes that the East Kootenays is the world’s best place to live. That’s why he aspires to keep the area’s homes as beautiful as their natural surroundings.
Kim joined the company as an apprentice in 1991, ten years after it was founded by Mike Riemann. After his apprenticeship, he stayed on to deepen his skill level and broaden his experience. When it came time for Mike Riemann to retire, he was happy to entrust his legacy to Kim. During the past 7 years, Kim has expanded the region’s #1 painting company from 5 employees to 20.
The secret to Kim’s success? Make life as easy as possible for each customer.
While some painting companies in British Columbia subcontract their services, Riemann Painting does all its own work. That’s the only way to maintain quality control, explains Kim. His 20 employees have all been formally trained and certified; each one is as good-natured as the company owner.
Kim says his job is fun. He enjoys each challenge. No wonder the Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce recognized his business excellence with an award for Entrepreneurial Spirit. But the highest accolade for Riemann’s Painting comes from its customers. Thousands of readers of Kootenay Business magazine voted Riemann’s Painting as winner of a platinum award in the 2009 Best of Business issue.
Riemann Painting is a member of the Southern Interior Construction Association.
